I am so excited to be participating in this year’s Spring ORC. A special thanks to Linda Weinstein, the entire ORC team, and their media partner Better Homes & Gardens for hosting this event. They have had many challenges this Spring due to COVID-19. I really appreciate their hard work and diligence to make this challenge happen even through these difficult circumstances.
In case you are not familiar with the One Room Challenge, it is a six week (currently 8 weeks due to Covid 19) challenge in which designers completely makeover a room. Here’s my bedroom mood board!! Ekkkk! I get so excited just looking at it!! 🥰
So let’s get down to business! The room I decided to makeover is our guest bedroom (and bathroom). I decided I might as well go ahead and do the bathroom at the same time. (Now is as good a time as any, right? 😂 ) Our bathroom mood board makes me so happy too!! ❤️
Why did I choose this room? I chose this room because it is the biggest design challenge that we have in this house! I have other rooms that I considered doing because it would’ve been easier to make them look pretty. But this is a challenge, right? Well, Challenge accepted! 😂 See what I mean?!?! 😝So the biggest challenge in this room was where to put the bed. The ceilings in this room made it anything but ordinary. So instead of working against the Layout, I decided to make it work for me! (No judgement please 😂)
Every time I looked at that dormer (literally even from the time we looked at the house before we purchased it) I could see that it had great potential! Now, how am I going to bring interest into the dormer? With Wallpaper! I decided to wallpaper the dormer walls and ceiling! 😱 Then add the beams to frame it out. I get so excited just thinking about it! 😆 If you’ve been around here very long, you know my love story with Wallpaper and where it begins! If not you can read about it here.
I’m planning to put the bed (a smaller bed of course😏) in the dormer to create a built in look. As for the rest of the room, I’m planning to create a cozy sitting area. I’m going to hang the TV on the wall instead of it sitting on the floor. ( I mean, everyone has a TV sitting in their floor, right?😂)
The bathroom will have a board and batten on the wall behind the vanity. We are using a peal and stick tile from floor pops on the floor. The vanity will be updated with green paint from general finishes and new brushed gold hardware. A new countertop and faucet will complete the look.
Here are a few before pictures.
I hope that you will follow along with me on this journey!
Love you bunches 💕
